Repetitive!

Good morning!

We have said it before, but the days are really flying along, and this is at a time when we are not at our busiest, so who knows how it's going to feel in a few weeks time.

A lot of what we do is very repetitive, just sitting down to write this at roughly the same time every day is (Monday to Friday). The morning meeting is, a lot of the work thats done during the day is. Put the still on, wait for it to come up to temperature, roughly 90 minutes, take the heads off, start collecting the spirit and keep an eye on the still whilst making minor adjustments to both the energy going in and the water cooling at the top. This ensures a super smooth spirit.

Whilst this is going on, pack off internet orders, fill off whatever products need bottling, wax, label and then put them into the warehouse.

Check and respond to emails, invoice customers, post on social media what is happening and so on and so on.

All of these things pretty much happen everyday, day in day out, most of which just happens on auto pilot, because the whole team is good at their roles, until a certain person comes up with a new idea or spots something to have a go at. Then all hell breaks loose!

It's these repetitive things that keep the cogs turning at the shed in the fens, so when it comes to writing this blog each day they can easily be overlooked. We could only focus on the exciting things that happen or the absolute disasters that happen which make for a more interesting read or a funnier one.  However this doesn’t give a true reflection of what it takes to run or work in a small business like this.

So when sitting down today to write this today, this is what came to mind.

It's pretty much the same in any job, the majority of the time it's doing pretty much the same things over and over. What makes the difference is who you work with, who you interact with on a daily basis. So during the day doing the same things over and over, there is never a dull moment in the shed, very rarely a quiet moment at all, it's usually a lot of banter (not a fan of that word). Yesterday someone broke one of the heaters and nobody claimed ownership of it, so we allocated the blame to the location it was in. Won’t mention any names here, but they know who they are and will probably claim their innocence all day today.

Off to the meeting and a coffee!

Have a great day

PS The heater was located in the area which is used to pack internet orders 😁
