Sambuca!

Good morning!

Its a very wet and cold Wednesday morning..It's supposed to be like this all day

The still is on and I have lit the heads which we burn to keep ourselves warm, when I say warm, it just takes the edge off, the still room however gets lovely and warm.

Yesterday was a good day, the filling machine arrived late in the day so it gave us the chance to get things sorted, made lots of bulk liquids, did some filling of Sambuca, both black and white ones which will go online today. You know everyone has that one drink which you have massively overdone at some point, when I say I overdone it, I mean really sick and feel like death warmed up, well that is Sambuca for me, I only have to smell it and all those memories come back. It's a very popular drink both online and at shows so that's why we make it, Bloody Gema always says try it, it's lovely etc Much to her amusement I decline, if I have to I will, but its certainly not a drink that we make that I enjoy! It is interesting when you are out at a show, you get people who absolutely love Sambuca, they enjoy a shot of it after a meal as its a well known digestif, and then you get the people like me who have clearly overdone it in the past and only hearing the word makes them go green. It always seems a good idea at the end of a party night to go on the shots, but as we all know, it never ends well! Now tequila on the other hand, Ill never turn one of those down, especially with the salt and slice of lemon, that one is a good idea! Until the morning, that is, takes a lot longer to recover these days..Out of interest, if you read this, comment on the post which is your no no drink…

As I wrote, the filling machine finally turned up late yesterday, so we have a big bottling day planned today. These are fun days, except it's pouring with rain which means I get the wonderful job of doing everything that is outside…

We are also making some more Bloody Mulled Gin today, it went up to the shops yesterday, both in 1 liter containers and we sent the drink machines up so they can serve it by the cup, so if you pop in one of the shops you will be greeted with the smell of hot mulled gin and on a day like today, it's a great drink to warm you up!

We have one more taster night coming up, 8th December in Aldreth, near Ely, tickets are selling well, if you are interested in attending, please message us and we can put you in touch with the organiser.

We have also been asked to do a talk Thursday 7th December in Chatteris library, its to help raise funds I believe for the Friends of Chatteris library, its not a testing night, but will be a fun evening talking about the history of Gin and what we do, I will make it a fun evening and its only £3 to attend, so again if you are interested let us know and we will put you in touch with the library.

Right I best get off to a meeting, beanie on, coffee in hand

Catch you later

Ant x
