A break!
Good morning! It's Monday and it's a new week!!
I actually had a weekend off and went away for the weekend, the break has done me the world of good, I absolutely love what I do but its good to step away and have a break. It is perfect timing before the madness starts for a few weeks. I went to Edinburgh for the weekend, but the train got canceled so we enjoyed a road trip, it was my first time in Edinburgh and it was a beautiful city! I will be going back, that's for sure
If you saw the live on Friday we set numerous alarms to remember to put the Bloody Mulled Gin on at 3pm, we got a message at 3.05 saying its sold out, it wasn’t, the stock wasn’t updated, so it went on about 3.05. The sales were great, people might think its better to sell out in minutes, but as we have found in the past it creates far too much pressure and you end up making mistakes and letting people down.
On Saturday night we ate in a small Italian restaurant, the food was amazing, people kept coming in and if they had not booked they could not fit them in, I have been in other restaurants and seen them keep saying yes to people coming in, then you sit there and they have taken on too much, the kitchen can’t cope and the service becomes slower and slower, its a challenge, no one likes turning away business, but as they showed on Saturday night, they were not prepared to lower their service standards just to fit in a few extra covers. Its the same with our sales online, if things sell out in minutes we can keep adding more and more stock and pressure in the shed, but then mistakes are made and we end up letting people down. Its just not worth it, so we only put on what we have actually made, then we can spend the next day packing the orders off. This way far less mistakes happen and people receive there orders in a timely fashion.
The fireworks at Downham Market got canceled due to the field being unusable, its a great shame for everyone involved and I am sure they did not take the decision lightly, but many firework displays got canceled so it was clearly the right decision.
We did have a small show on Sunday, at Holbeach Farmers market which went very well, we took some Mulled Gin and Baubles and people came out to support it and were definitely Christmas shopping, this bodes well for the shows coming up.
The grey beanies have arrived so these will go on sale on our website today, I am very happy with them, we will continue the offer of the black bobble hat if you spend £40 online, but you will also have the option to purchase the grey ones, it's currently freezing so I have one on now, its super warm and doing the job.
Right I best get to the meeting and get out off holiday mode..
