Old Scarlett!

Good morning!

Brrrrr its super icy today, after yesterday's rain most of the day the sudden drop in temperature overnight has meant its very icy here, we have a metal ramp leading up to the door which can be lethal when icy, especially in the dark, this morning was no exception, many a time I have slipped flat on my face trying to unlock the door, so I have to hang onto the door handle, trying to unlock the door, holding a torch to sort the padlock code before getting in, with two pups running around my feet trying to get themselves in for the treat they always have when we get to the shed in the fens. Thankfully it's dark so no one sees the calamity first thing!

I then put the kettle on, turn the still on, then the wax before lighting some heads to try and take the chill off.

After a hot cup of coffee it's time to sit and write this…thats how my morning starts here

We had a busy one yesterday, packing off internet orders which we are now up to date with. One of the things that always happens this time of year is Royal Mail get super busy so can get a little behind, this means that you will receive a notification email from us saying your goods have been despatched, you will only get this when the items have been packaged off and given to the postman to collect, you will receive a tracking number but the post system will just say its been sent to them, it can then take a day or two to update their end, before then being delivered, it can be very frustrating for the customer and equally frustrating for us because we cannot get any more information from them. They usually then deliver no problem, occasionally a parcel will be lost, broken or returned to us. We do our best to rectify this. So if you are ordering for Christmas presents, it's better to order sooner rather than later because its impossible to guarantee a delivery by a certain date.

Today we will be doing more of the same, production is slowing down as we get nearer to the christmas break.

Thank you for the lovely comments regarding the gin we produced for Peterborough Cathedral, Old Scarletts gin, the story behind Old Scarlett is a great story about an incredible man. Producing products for other people is not something we do much of, but when it involves working with good people and a great story behind it, it was something we didn’t want to pass up. We are super happy with how it has turned out, looks amazing and the customer is pleased, its now in the gift shop at peterborough cathedral and started selling well.

Here is a link to Old Scarlett, well worth a read
