Weather!
Good morning!!
It's Friday…Yay!! It feels like its been a long week, nearly the weekend and I’m really looking forward to it.
Its also not stopped raining here, all yesterday, all night and still is now…good old British weather, it is February though, I much prefer cold to wet though, always feels colder when its raining though. Anyway, enough waffling about the weather.
Yesterday we had to do some bottling, on a small scale, one of the advantages we have being a small distillery, is we can produce very small batches if we need to, we cannot compete with large companies on volume but we have to work to our strengths which is small batches and because we produce our own labels we can offer small quantities of personalised labels.
We also put out there our highly sophisticated labeling system, that is sarcasm, we simply label by hand. Its something we have always done, I have often been told get a label machine, it will be quicker etc, I could, but you will be amazed how much you can produce doing everything by hand. My ethos has and always will be I would rather employ people than machines, with a small team of good people we can produce more than enough volume to make our business viable and successful.
The challenge is not producing enough, the challenge is always selling it..thats why we promote what we do on social media, that's why we attend shows and events and thats why we have our own shops. Producing a great product is one thing, but unless people want to purchase it then you can have all the machines in the world but you will soon run into trouble as you will have a full warehouse of stock and no money left because its all tied up in there.
So each day we split our time between promoting/selling our products/shops, looking for events and booking shows, processing orders, both wholesale and online and then coming up with ideas to try.
I was chatting with someone yesterday and then mentioned about failure, I have written about this before, you cannot be afraid of failing, just have a go, if it doesn’t work then at least you had a go, but will happen is you will learn something and then it will evolve into something else and eventually you will succeed, it won’t if you have a go, it doesn’t work then you stop and don’t try again, then nothing will happen. Its very much like that here, we try lots of different things that we think at the time is a good idea, some work some don’t but that’s ok, as long as you keep trying it will all work out.
